Benches

There are many abstract concepts that make up my understanding of a civilized society – liberal values, a respect for reason, universal healthcare, diversity in the arts, and so on – but the provision of a bench is a concrete if modest expression of both concern for others and the desire to go beyond the merely functional to create beauty in the world.
