Bibliography

Imagine how limited our comprehension would be “if we had to generate it all on our own” (Dennett 1995, p. 380). For anyone unfamiliar with citations and lists of references, if I include a quotation from a book in one of my blogs, Ill also include a citation, which is usually the author and year together with a page number or range, as in the Dennett citation above. Ill also link the year to this page (which is why 1995 is not linked, since were already on the Bibliography page).

So, here are some of the books I’ve cited on this blog, which have increased both my understanding and awareness of my lack of understanding. Click on the title to skip to Amazon, where if you’re lucky there’ll be a review by Sphex. (Im in the process of building Amazon affiliate links for titles I recommend. If you click on these links and then make a purchase, Ill earn a small commission.)

There are plenty of unread books on my shelf, and if I’m feeling guilty at least I’ve got this list to remind me that I have actually read a few books. Trouble is, it also reminds me of what I haven’t read, since most of the non-fiction books themselves have lists of references, the majority of which I haven’t read, and so on, and so forth. The more you know, the more you know you don’t know is a truism, which happens to be true.
